Our Story
How We Started
Sarah and Ali’s love for chocolate began as children, during their time as students at Menemsha School. Every day, they walked through the woods and over a stream to the schoolhouse- with an essential stop along the way. Chilmark Chocolates was conveniently situated right between home and school, resulting in daily treats gifted from the generous owners.
Around 2005 their first jobs there taught them the nuances and time-tested trade of chocolate-making. Throughout the years, they saw firsthand how chocolate can brighten someone’s day and bring people together.
Sarah and Ali are happy to continue the tradition of Up-Island chocolate-making with their own unique approach and creations. Their chocolates are influenced by the colors and tastes of the island they grew up on. Enjoy!!

A small environmental footprint is a key value to our business, and we focus on minimizing waste production whenever possible. We actively seek to prioritize local products and services. This not only decreases our environmental impact but buoys our home community through mutual support.
